The present study was planned to evaluate the antipyretic activity of ethanolic leaf extract of Carica papaya Linn. in albino rats following oral administration. Plant extracts were administered at the doses of 100 & 200 mg/kg body weight. The standard drug used was paracetamol (200mg/kg p.o). Rectal temperature of experimental animals was recorded at a time interval of 1hrs, 2hrs, 3hrs, and 4hrs after drug administration for evaluation of antipyretic activity. The results showed that the ethanolic extract significantly reduces fever at higher doses within 2 hrs. on yeast induce hyperthermia in rats.
